Pierré is Director of Grant Thornton (Cayman) LLP’s Insurance team in the Cayman Islands. He is a qualified accountant with almost 15 years of experience in auditing and accounting and was recognised as a finalist in the 2023 Captive International FORTY Under 40 list. Pierré earned his chartered accountant qualification in South Africa before relocating to the Cayman Islands in January 2015. Since then, he has worked in the insurance sector, both in professional practice and industry.

He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa and moved to the Cayman Islands in January 2015 where he has since worked within the insurance sector, both in industry and in professional practice. Before moving to the Cayman Islands, Pierré completed his accounting degree in 2008 and obtained significant corporate audit experience during his time at a medium-sized audit firm in South Africa.
Industry experience
During his time in industry, Pierré managed a diverse portfolio of captive insurance companies, with a focus on group captives. He has audited companies operating in re/insurance, investment funds and other financial services industries, hospitality, healthcare, education and manufacturing. Pierré has experience reporting under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, International Financial Reporting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards for Small and Medium-Sized Entities.
