Grant Thornton Cayman Islands Raises Over US$18,000 for Charities at 5th Annual Golf Championship
On 30 November, Grant Thornton Cayman Islands presented the Cayman Islands Humane Society and YMCA of the Cayman Islands with a cheque for over US$9,200 each further to fundraising efforts from their annual golf event.
At the 5th annual event, Grant Thornton welcomed over 90 budding golfers to the North Sound golf course for a day of on-course challenges and fundraising initiatives, and to crown the new ‘Grant Thornton Championships Golfers of the Year’.
“Community support is of paramount importance at Grant Thornton,” Greg O’Driscoll, Partner and Head of Asset Management for the professional services firm said, “and we are delighted to donate to two very worthy charities. Our guests dug deep during exclusive golf challenges, and we were able to exceed our 2020 fundraising total.”
Congratulations to the 2021 winning team: Andreas Haug from Maples Group, Ronan Guilfoyle from Calderwood, Jarladth Travers from Conyers and David Bell from Citco.
“Such a fantastic day would not be possible without the support of our sponsors – Kirk Freeport and TRAC Automotive. Special thanks to Kirk Freeport who donated fantastic prizes to the winners,” O’Driscoll continues, “and to both Kirk Freeport and TRAC Automotive for donating world-class hole-in-one prizes. Our event is proud to be associated with both companies. Lastly a huge thank you to the North Sound Golf Club, the Golf Team at the Ritz Carlton and all local businesses that donated raffle prizes to the event. Your support enabled us to raise a record-breaking amount.”
Competition and raffle prizes included a Tag Heuer watch, Xboxes, a Samsung 70” smart TV, exclusive golf equipment, golf vouchers and several vouchers for local hotels, attractions, services, supermarkets, and restaurants.
“For the fifth year, we are delighted that the Grant Thornton team has, once again, surpassed last year’s donation,” says Cassandra McAfee of the Cayman Islands Humane Society, “Their support helps us provide ongoing care to unwanted animals, seek loving homes for them and assist the community in all aspects of animal welfare.”
Eric Ellsworth of the YMCA added “Your kind donation supports our mission to inspire youth and build stronger and healthier communities.”
