Justin Hastings secured top spot at the first event of the inaugural Grant Thornton Summer Series on Sunday, 12 June. In the 54-hole event, Hastings won with three scores of 74, 71 and 73, for a total of 218 over Saturday and Sunday.
The Cayman Islands Golf Association (“CIGA”) launched the series following the recent announcement of Grant Thornton’s partnership with CIGA as title sponsor and of amateur player Holly McLean. The series features four official World Amateur Golf Ranking (“WAGR”) events in Grand Cayman at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and the North Sound Golf Club.
The first event, held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, featured top amateur and professional golfers with a handicap of six or lower including Justin Hastings, Payten Wight and Giles Hobday.
“Grant Thornton is delighted to sponsor the WAGR Summer Series and continue to support the development of golf in the Cayman Islands,” says Greg O’Driscoll, Partner and Head of Asset Management and Business Development at Grant Thornton Cayman Islands. “The first event was a great start and huge congratulations to Justin on a well-deserved win. We look forward to the upcoming events.”
Events will be played over 54 holes from ladies and men’s championship tees. Prizes awarded include overall winner, top non-WAGR-ranked player, and low net score.
